1973 Mercury Cougar Scale Model Car

Interior, Windshield and WindowDay 6 -
June 14, 2007

Today I trimmed off the excess plastic sprue from the windshield and rear window piece. I wasn't absolutely certain, however I wanted to make sure stress wouldn't be put on the part from me taking it in and out of the box. I'm referring to stress being put on the piece where the sprue is attached to the piece. Stress might cause marks, such as small cracks perhaps, in the clear windows where it is visible after installing it in the body, or the sprue might break off in the wrong place leaving an area missing that would be noticeable and definitely detract from the built model. I should have removed the sprue as soon as I was certain I was going to begin building the model.

I also trimmed the sprue off of and trimmed and sanded the flash off of each of the interior pieces except for the chrome plated gear shift. When I am ready for painting, I'll wash these parts with mild detergent in lukewarm water.
